Elizabeth and Elmer were childhood sweethearts, dating for five years before marriage. After high school, Elizabeth attended Indiana University where she earned her bachelor of science degree in education and was a proficient violinist, playing for the college symphony. After graduation, she taught public school, K-8th grade and completed her fifth year degree at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Elizabeth was an intelligent woman who had a love for reading and music while staying active in church and community affairs. She enjoyed dancing and having a good time with others. Most of all, Elizabeth loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband and best friend of 79 years, Elmer Montana Sears, Sr.; and a daughter, Patricia Ann Sawyer.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, daughter, Cecilia Elizabeth Larson and husband John of Juneau, Alaska; daughter, Carolyn Susan Harkins and husband Willis of Kimberling City, Missouri; and son, Elmer Montana Sears, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Palm Bay, Florida; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Elizabeth will begin at 12:30 pm, with funeral service at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Clear Creek Christian Church, Bloomington, Indiana, with Rev. Ben Geiger officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Elizabeth may be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation www.abcf.org/donate.
