June 7, 1950-February 1, 2016
Debbie Sue (White) Harrell was born June 7, 1950, in Memphis, Texas. She graduated from Seagraves High School in Texas and went on to study music at Texas Tech University. She married her husband, RP Harrell, in 1972, and for fourteen years, performed professionally all over the U.S. and Canada. In 1986 Debbie Sue gave birth to their only child, Katie (Harrell) Gumm. After moving to Branson, Missouri, in 1992, she performed for the Country Tonite show for eight years. Debbie Sue was awarded Support Vocalist of the Year for three consecutive years and was inducted into the Branson Entertainer’s Hall of Fame in 1999. She always felt honored to share her love for the Lord in her heartfelt performances of gospel songs during the shows.
After retiring from performing, Debbie served as a teller and teller supervisor at Branson Bank for nearly twelve years. She had a great love for her bank family, as well as all the friends and customers she served over the years. Her contagious smile, southern twang, and love for people will be greatly missed.
She was a member of Woodland Hills Family Church in Branson and loved serving on the prayer team and in the women's ministry.
Debbie is survived by her husband, RP Harrell; daughter, Katie Gumm and husband Matt Gumm; unborn grandchild; her dad, Jeff Wiggins of Branson; brother, C.L. White and wife Rosemary of Arlington, Texas; and niece, Crysta Levacy and husband Blake of Lubbock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Wiggins, in 2012.
A celebration of Debbie's life will be Saturday, February 13, 3:00 pm, at Woodland Hills Family Church in Branson, Missouri, with Pastor Ted Cunningham officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your home church or your charity of choice in Debbie Sue’s name. That would give her great joy.
