She graduated as Valedictorian from Farmington High School. She was a legal secretary and worked as a court reporter. Edith enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling and quilting. She loved to cook and was known for her great sense of humor. Not only was Edith an exceptional mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a class act and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Pautz and three brothers: Leonard Herbst, Marvin Herbst and Emmett Herbst.
Edith is survived by her husband of 62 years, Vincent Kurtz, of the home; her children: Mary Sanders and husband Mike of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jennifer Single and husband Jim of Hollister, Missouri, Alex Kurtz and wife Jayne of O’Fallon, Missouri, Rachel Beatty and husband Matt of Springfield, Missouri, Gretchen Crow and husband Brad of Berryton, Kansas; her grandchildren: Tiffany Kuschmeader and husband Luke, Kathryn Voletto, Jacob Kurtz and wife Brandi, David Ellis, Gabriel Kurtz, Zachary Beatty, Ashley Crow; great grandchildren: Lyla Edie Kuschmeader, Ruby Kuschmeader, Cecelia Kurtz and step-great-grandchildren: Kail Derstler and Tara Derstler.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
