Gene graduated from Erie High School, Erie, Kansas. He worked as a brakeman for the railroad for 30 years. After retirement, Gene worked for Larry Schneider Construction for 20 years. He had a great personality and loved his animals. Gene grew tomatoes for others and he enjoyed fishing. Most of all, he worked hard to provide for his family. Gene will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Eugene Sears.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of over 46 years, Carolyn Sears of the home; a daughter, Gina Dailey and husband Don of Little Rock, Arkansas; a granddaughter, Abigail Dailey of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters, Doris Ann Roets of Springfield, Missouri, Cathy Cook and husband Don of Parsons, Kansas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
