Loved by all the lives he touched as an educator, Greg taught 11th and 12th grade English language arts and was a special education paraprofessional for Hollister High School for five years. He also frequently assisted with the high school band. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a creative writing emphasis from the University of Missouri. Greg was an Eagle Scout, a National Merit Scholar, and an all-state horn player. He enjoyed playing trivia and was a sci-fi fan, especially Star Trek. Greg was also the vice-president of the Branson Freethinkers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Geraldine Elliott, and Charles and Beulah Davis.
Greg is survived by his parents, Dwight and Pam Davis of Branson, Missouri; a sister, Dr. Meredith Davis and fiancé Dr. Matthew Gardner of Jupiter, Florida; aunts and uncles, Keith and Susan Elliott of Riverview, Michigan; Kevin Elliott and Sandy Altman of Roscommon, Michigan; Jarvis and Charlotte Davis of Cape Coral, Florida; Charles Davis of North Hollywood, California; Edwin Davis of St. Petersburg, Florida; Paula Davis and Gene Smith of Deltona, Florida; Mark and Connie Davis of Bedford, Indiana; John and Amy Davis of Lima, Ohio; as well as 14 cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church Wednesday, September 2, 2015, from 4:00-6:30 pm with a celebration of life beginning at 7:00 pm with Father Ross Stuckey and Rev. Dr. William Fasel officiating. In memory of Greg, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hollister Schools Foundation C/O Hollister Public Schools or the Taneyhills Community Library.
