James was in the Army, National Guard, Military Police Branch. Although service was during peacetime, James was proud to stand for his flag and country.
He loved spending time at ocean waters, boating, and in his younger years riding his Harley, exploring Ozark creeks and camping.
James moved to Rockaway Beach on July 4, 1999, to reunite with Rose. Four years later, on July 4, 2003, they were joined in marriage.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Louis and Grace Moore; two sisters, Sherry McDaniel and Roxanne Guidry; and his first wife, Mitzi Davis.
James is survived by his wife, Rose, and his pit bull, Butterbean of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; a stepson, Tony Toten of Rockaway Beach Missouri; his children, Nathan, Candice, Reagin and Alyanna; a stepdaughter, Kelsey Obenchain, and her sons, Domenyk and Lyrix of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; a daughter, Sonya Gilmer; two granddaughters, Chasty Moore and Kristin Williams of Vicksburg, Mississippi; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters, Diane Johnson Guest of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Marian “Dinky” Baxter of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Katina, “Gidget” Comans of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and two brothers, Marion “Bo” Johnson of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Casey Perreira of Magee, Mississippi.
