Born March 23, 1926, in Rockville Centre, New York, the son of Fred Spear Willard and Lois Davison, Jordan grew up in Rockville Center, attended Greenbrier Academy and High School in Miami, Florida. He joined the Army Air Corps near the end of World War II. When the war ended, Jordan went to work for Esso on a tanker, then worked in Marine Transportation for various Exxon Companies in Aruba, Indonesia, Singapore, New York and Houston, Texas. In 1962, Jordan married Penelope Coe in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Looking for a place to retire in 1981 they bought a ranch to raise cattle in Forsyth, Missouri, where they have lived the past 34 years.
Jordan enjoyed boating and saltwater fishing, especially for salmon in Alaska. Hunting was a favorite passion of his, from hunting elk in Colorado, to quail, pheasants and ducks throughout the country. He enjoyed raising French Pointer dogs. His talent for making furniture has brought pleasure to all the family. He enjoyed traveling in the U.S. to historic places and overseas, especially on small ships.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Penelope; daughter, Jordana Glazier and her husband Stephen; son, Steven Cairns and his wife Laura; son, Dr. Christian Willard and his wife Christine; along with three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Anglican Church. Memorial contributions for Jordan Willard may be made to CORE. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
