Norm proudly served our nation in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He fought in Guam, Japan and even witnessed the signing of the Peace Treaty with Japan. Norm was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was the mayor of Tyrone, Georgia for eight years. Norm enjoyed yard work, fishing, boating and working outside, especially with his tractor. But most of all, Norman Edwin Davis loved his family and they will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sally Anne Davis and a brother, Roland Davis.
Norm is survived by his wife, Juanita Davis of the home; three daughters, Gloria DeVoe and husband Don of Blue Eye, Missouri, Connie Davis of Cleveland, Georgia, Shaheen Plunier and husband J.P. of Claremont, California; three sons, Danny Davis and wife Karen of Elmira, New York, Hamid Davis and wife Wing Shan of Ridgedale, Missouri, Mark Derr and wife Pam of Camden, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Sara Winter and husband Matt, Felix Plunier, Loic Plunier, Liam Plunier, Easton Davis, Athan Davis, Matthew Derr, Jason Derr; seven great-grandchildren, Owen Winter, Eloise Winter, Phoebe Winter, Matt Derr, Morgan Derr, Emma Derr, Kayla Blitch and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held with full military honors 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Pines Community Christian Church, Blue Eye, Missouri, with Pastor Kevin L. Green officiating.
