Rich proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a farmer and a truck driver most of his life. Prior to moving to the Tri-Lakes area, Rich and Kathy lived in Nebraska where he served as a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Rich was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan with a great sense of humor. He was always on the go, spending many hours as a “handyman.” He believed he could fix anything with duct tape and bailing wire. Rich enjoyed tractor pulls, stock car races and good fried chicken. He never met a stranger. In his later years, he and Kathy traveled domestically and abroad, including their most recent trip to South Africa. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, but most of all, Rich loved his family. His kindness and friendly nature will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Kenneth and Bertha Wolf; and a grandson, Dustin Lammers.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy Lammers; three daughters, Lori Bohrer of Omaha, Nebraska, Lisa Schriner of Papillion, Nebraska; Lana Edgar and husband Bryon of La Vista, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Jon Schriner and wife Robyn, Joseph Schriner and wife Rochale, Jade Schriner and special friend Matt, Brandy Pillen and husband Deven, Becky Heavrin and husband Tom, Ashley Cox and B.J. Edgar; three great-grandsons, Avery, Jagger, Reed and one on the way; a sister, Caroline Jackson and husband George of Riverton, Nebraska; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Wolf and wife Karen of Audubon, Iowa, and Curt Wolf of Franklin, Nebraska.
A celebration of Rich’s life will be held 1:00 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Pines Community Christian Church in Blue Eye, with Pastor Kevin Green officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
