Richard graduated from Kingwood High School in 1959, where he lettered in sports. He enlisted in the US Air Force on June 16, 1959. Rich cared deeply about his country, family, work, and service to others. His pastimes included watching sports, coaching little league football, camping, dancing, bluegrass music, and working on the farm. He worked diligently on his education and earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Christian Counseling as well as other certifications from numerous institutions. With an outgoing personality, he enjoyed time with others, and was a true entrepreneur. Above all, Rich loved and enjoyed his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: David, Raymond, and Mark; and three sisters: Jo Ann, Linda, and Delores.
Rich is survived by his wife Judith (Arnold) Menear; former wife Sally Marie Chavez; four children: Barbara Anne Larrabee and husband Rick, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Cindy Anne Sabata and husband Ed of Brainard, Nebraska, Richard W Menear Jr. of Topeka, Kansas, and Deborah Anne Nauerth and husband Joel of Manhattan, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Blessed, Rachel, Melissa, Ben, Crystal, Emily, Hannah, and Noah; nine great-grandchildren: J.W., Lilah, Jace, Evy, Sadie, Lacey, Ava, Lilly, and Sawyer; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Esther Luzader and husband Richard of Tunnelton, West Virginia; and a sister-in-law Marlene K Menear of Tunnelton, West Virginia.
Inurnment will follow at Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, with honors, in Fort Riley, Kansas.
