Bob has donated his corneas in memory of his mother, who suffered from macular degeneration. He was a graduate of Central Union High School, Class of '70, in El Centro, California. Bob enjoyed golf, tennis, the San Diego Chargers, and playing music. Bob "Rookie" was known for shooting the breeze, having fun, singing, and basically loving life.
He thrived in his music as a trumpet player for many bands: Groovy and the Thunderbirds of El Centro, California; Bump and Grind of Reno, Nevada; The Alpine Band of Reno; Wade Brothers Band (Gary Wade Band) of Reno; Horn Dawgs of Branson, Missouri; and Mickey Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band of Branson. A three-time winner of the Branson All-American Entertainment Awards for Trumpet, he was also inducted into the Branson Musicians & Entertainers Hall of Fame in 2000.
Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Jane (Fisher) Arner of Sonoma, California; brother, Randy Fisher of Branson, Missouri; son, Ryan Dickerman of Sun Valley, Nevada; three nieces: Melanie Corona, Sally Spilsbury, and Megan Loftus; and eight grand nieces and nephews. Rookie will be missed by many.
A celebration of life is to be at a later time.
