Steve proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was proud of his 41 years of work as a civil servant in the U.S. Postal Service. He loved fishing, and the happiest days of his life were living at the lake.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Rudolph Berger, two brothers: Bill Berger and an infant brother.
Steve is survived by his mother, Frances (Wagner) Berger of St. Louis, Missouri; son, Devron (Connie) Berger of Arnold, Missouri; son, Brian (Michelle) Wendt of Hillsboro, Missouri; daughter, Robin (Ronnie) Chitwood of St. Peters, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Christina, Austin, Ethan, Amanda, Brian, Andrew, Amanda, Emma, and Samantha; twelve great-grandchildren: three sisters: Brenda Card, Linda Luschuck, and Sue Gardenhire.
Inurnment with full military honors will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis County, Missouri.
