Wes served in the United States Marines during the Korean conflict. For 30 years he worked with heavy equipment with the Operating Engineers in California. He enjoyed traveling and RVing. He even started a camping club, the Camplighters, in California, which is still going today. After retirement, he and Jackie moved to the Ozarks in 1995.
Wes is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Jackie Goodwin; daughter, Wendy Whitney of Harrison, Arkansas; sister, Pat Andersen of Lenoir, North Carolina; sister, Mabelle Strayer of Carmel, Indiana; five grandchildren: Ryan Ward of California, Rachel Godwin of Pennsylvania, Heather Glaser of California, Wesley Whitney of Texas, Travis Whitney of Hawaii; and eleven great-grandchildren. Wes will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life is planned at Harvest Evangelical Free Church, Branson, Missouri, February 17, 2018, at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donating to Wes’s memorial fund at Harvest Evangelical Free Church, 256 Church Road, Branson, Missouri 65616. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
