William Eugene “Gene” Allen, age 73, of Theodosia, Missouri, passed away December 30, 2017. He entered this world December 16, 1944, in Muldraugh, Kentucky, the son of Clarence and Mae Belle (Meeks) Allen who have preceded him in death. Gene was joined in marriage on January 1, 1963, to his lovely bride, Bettie Jane Pigg, who stood by his side for nearly 55 years. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
Gene proudly served our country during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the service, Gene began his career in Safety and Risk Management at A.B. Chance Company in Centralia, Missouri. He went on to similar positions at Doe Run in Herculaneum, Missouri and St. Louis County Government, where he retired in 2007. Gene’s free time included fishing, reading, and gardening. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his bride, Bettie Allen of the home; two sons: Dale Allen of Duluth, Minnesota, and Mike Allen of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Melinda (Allen) Untiedt of St. Louis, Missouri; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Clarence Allen Jr. of Chaparral, New Mexico, and Marvin Allen of Las Cruses, New Mexico.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for April. The family will provide more details as plans are finalized. In lieu of flowers.
